I just got a message from yahoo saying my email has exceeded its limits and needs to be verified or the?
account will be suspended. Is this some sort of scam or hoax?

It's a phishing scam to hack your account. Yahoo will never ask you for personal information in a email. If you exceed your sending limits with Yahoo, they just freeze it for 24 to 48 hours. Just delete the message.

That's not from Yahoo, it's a scam. Delete it.

Unless you have over 10,000 messages in your Inbox you have probably not exceeded your limits. If you are over the limit your account does not need to be verified, when you log in you'd get a message saying that you need to delete messages in order to receive more mail
This is a known phishing scam attempting to get you to give them all your personal info. It's not from Yahoo, just delete it and ignore it. Good luck and be careful.
